Rock legends the EAGLES released their 4th LP ONE OF THIS NIGHTS
in 1975. It was their commercial breakthrough album. It went No. 1
in the US and No. 8 in the UK.
Its title track was one of their biggest hit singles, written by
drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glen Frey. It occupied the
top spot of the US Singles Chart on 3 August 1975, today
50 years ago.
Henley: “We like to be a nice little country-rock band from
Los Angeles… about half the time. We wanted to get away
from the ballad syndrome with ‘One of These Nights’.”
Frey: “We wanted the song to have a lot
of teeth, a lot of bite—a nasty track with
pretty vocals.”
