Band: THE PRETTY GRAVES
Who: Indie art–rock troubadours from Connecticut.
They craft a potent mix of raw emotion, soul-baring
lyricism, fuzzed-out guitars, and pure melodies.

And they’re not done yet. On October 30th, they’ll launch Tapes & Demos via cassette and digital. A collection of ten tracks left over from the foursome’s heralded debut album, and like all great rock and roll bands, this striking batch of b-sides, unfinished demos, and live favorites holds up as a dynamite record on its own merit.

Christopher M. Listorti: “‘Bluebird’ is about an encounter I had with a bluebird that
lived outside on my porch. I would bump into him while out on my porch, day or night.
This encounter entwined with what I was going through at the time without going into
great detail. The bluebird can symbolize happiness, hope, and being grounded,
which the dude on my porch inspired for me.”
TUTV: The Pretty Graves flew back to the swinging 60s, bought records by The Flamin’ Groovies, The Sonics, and The Velvet Underground, then came back to the present, went straight to the studio, and recorded psychedelic, piano-spiced boogie stomper Bluebird, stimulated by jangly guitars, tambourines, bopping dynamics, and hearty vocals.
Well, those were the images and sounds that popped up in my head halfway through my first listen. Yes, TPG have your ears’ attention right away. And you surely know where to find the repeat button.
