COMING SOON! Your Album For A Wall-Banging Family Xmas Party – POWER UP!

You want to bang your head against the wall, with your beloved family on, Xmas Eve?
No problem. Veteran rockers AC/DC from down under release their 17th album – which definitely will sound the same as the 16 previous ones – titled POWER UP this Friday.

Take your short trousers out of the closet and
prepare yourself for a thunderous riff tsunami.

Hells Bells! For those about to rock AC/DC salutes you with the lead-single…

NME says: “After 50 years in the game, the band don’t reinvent the wheel – when they
basically created it, why would they? – but their timely comeback is a hell of a ride… “I’m
hoping this album will make young kids go out and buy a guitar, learn the riffs and discover
the rest of our catalogue,” Brian Johnson told us. While it remains to be seen if they’ll heed his words, this album proves that it won’t be through lack of trying on AC/DC’s part. This is, all considered, a kick up the arse at a time when we need it the most.”

Five Firecrackers To STAY ON TRACK IN THE WEEKEND!

9 October / 11 October 2020

Five new firecrackers to bang-up your favorite 48 hours…

1. ‘Shot In The Dark’ by AC/DC (Australia)
Get your worn schoolboy outfit out of your parents’ closet, let your hair hang down and shake your head up and down as if you want to shake off your heavy hangover. Yes, the grandfathers of senseless fun rock are back and hit like they did since 1973. Riff riff riff!

2. ‘Rise Up’ by LEFT ON THE DIAL (Toronto, Canada)
Ever heard legendary Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd team up with the equally heroic Los Angeles gang Canned Heat for a sweaty blues jackhammer? Me neither, until know that is. This Toronto group knows all about America’s classic rock history and they bring it here to life with thunder and lighting bravado, rolling riffs and a ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ feel.

3. ‘Under The Gun’ by VIOLENT VICKIE (Long Beach, California)
Glamorous doom and gloom disco to play at illegal graveyard parties. Bouncy, peppy and darksome. Vickie looks awesome and sounds awesome, but breath down her neck on your own risk. You have been warned, drooling zombies. Listen to new LP DIVISION instead.

“Under the gun / You live your life / No more fun.”

.
4. ‘Stupid Boys’ by BLEACHED (Los Angeles)
Los Angeles’ punchy duo return with a zippy riot pop grrrl chant you can clap along while pirouetting yourself dizzy. What they thought was a fun song turned out to be quite dark when she reexamined it in the wake of the Burger Records sexual misconduct scandal.

“Stupid boys with broken hearts/ Love to watch you fall apart.”

5. ‘Before Du Gehst’ by NORTHPOLYPTICA (Germany)
Great music doesn’t have boundaries. This German band is living proof of that, sounding like a power-pop version of theatrical dance-metal rockers Rammstein. As electrical, as symphonic, and as flamboyant as their Big Brothers but without the special effects and
the horrific macho bombast. Check their new excellent album Seelenfrieden here.

Hells Bells – Legendary Riff Machine AC/DC Back With ‘SHOT IN THE DARK’

New sonic impulses

7 October 2020

For those about to rock AC/DC salutes you. With hoarse vox Brian Johnson, drummer
Phil Rudd, and bassist Cliff Williams back in the line-up the Australian riff machine rocks
your socks off again.

New album POWER UP arrives on 13 November. Many of the songs date back to the period around Black Ice in 2008, and every track is credited to Angus and his late brother Malcolm Young .

Angus: “This record is pretty much dedication to Malcolm, my brother.
It’s a tribute for him like Back In Black was a tribute to Bon Scott.”

Lead-single SHOT IN THE DARK is a vintage scream along haymaker. It’s the same old bang-up racket the band produces since 1973 but it still works tremendously well, that’s why they don’t change to make jazzy, avant-garde music, I guess.

Angus about the new sucker-punch: “The title is a little bit cheeky because
we all like a little nip of alcohol in the night or a few shots in the dark.”

Happy 65 To ANGUS YOUNG – The Schoolboy Hero Of Hard Rock Legends AC/DC…

31 March 2020

Today 65 years ago, on 31 March 1955, ANGUS McKINNON YOUNG was born in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1963 he moved with his family to Australia. After playing in
a couple of small bands, he formed, with his brother AC/DC in 1973 and he became
world-famous for his schoolboy-uniform outfit – which he still wears at gigs – and his
own version of Chuck Berry’s duck walk while playing firework riffs. To celebrate the
hard rock hero’s birthday I picked three AC/DC classics, live versions of course.

Here we go, bang your head…
