Liverpool’s heroes ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN wrote/recorded
one of the best ballads ever in music history with magical gem
OCEAN RAIN, the title track of their 1984 magnum opus.

The live rendition of this diamond on British legendary music TV Show
The Tube (1982-1987) on 16 December 1983 is vintage Bunnymen with
big mouth Ian McCulloch doing what he did/does all his life. Singing cool,
performing cool and looking cool.

A Heartbreaker Both In Sound And Vision – ‘I PROMISE’ By RADIOHEAD

Seven years ago blockbuster album OK COMPUTER turned 20.
To celebrate the occasion RADIOHEAD released a special anniversary
edition of their masterpiece called OKNOTOK featuring three previously
unreleased tracks recorded during the OK sessions.

One of them is the supreme ballad titled I PROMISE
(more than 22 million streams on Spotify.)

Band: D.A.F. (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft)

Who: An infamous electropunk/Neue Deutsche Welle quartet formed
in 1978 in Düsseldorf. In 1981 it became a duo with the two founders
Gabriel “Gabi” Delgado-López (vocals) and Robert Görl (drums, percussion,
electronic instruments). Delgado-Lopez passed away in 2020, only 61.

Why do I remember RICK PARFITT here every year since he passed away
6 years ago on 24 December? Because he was the 24/7 blonde God riff-king
of legendary 12-bar boogie rockers STATUS QUO.

And? Well, I saw the Quo about thirty times live. Am I serious? Absolutely
It always was no-nonsense, sweaty-head-banging fun. And I liked-liked-liked-it,
rockin’ all over the world

Just like here with a let your hair hang down and boogie
live TV version of Down The Dustpipe in 1970 with the
audience in a coma.

One of my all-time beloved MANIC STREET PREACHERS
classics is YOU LOVE US from their thunderous debut LP
(a double one) from 1992.

The accompanying culture sluts video clip still is as fab as the day
it came out, featuring the late Richey Edwards who disappeared
mysteriously in 1995. Still sorely missed. R.I.P.
