TRACK-BY-TRACK

1.’Shame’ by LNC (Nottingham, UK)

📸 Joe Walchester Photography

British band formed in Nottingham in 2016, based upon
a childhood dream and driving ambition to write music
from four school mates

These British gunslingers’ new single is a track inspired by how it feels to be
young and in a constant losing battle to survive in such a competitive world.

Frontman Josh Price roars all over this striking stroke. Shame is a wham bloody wham bam punk fireball. His voice resembles Artcic Monkey’s Alex Turner voice a bit, not his present crooner’s one, but rather his young angry man’s one. LNC is another post-Brexshit band (think Bar Italia, Deadletter, Lmabrini Girls, Ditz, Silverbacks, and several more) that produces turbulent turmoil in these tumultuos times, that reflects their worried state of mind caused by today’s merciless rat race.

Ace.

2. ‘The Knock’ by FEEDER (UK)

(Press photo)

Welsh veteran rockers FEEDERGrant Nicholas and Taka Hirose as key
members – drop a new LP, their 12th, a double one, titled Black/Red
on 5 April 2024.

One of the new share track, THE KNOCK is a straightforward,
hefty post-grunge rocker with a huge chorus.

Rad.

3. ‘The King’ by SAFARI ROOM (Nashville, TN)

Safari Room is the indie rock outfit and brainchild of
Alec Koukol
. Omaha-native, now a Nashville-local.

A new album is canned and named ‘Time Devours All Things’.
It lands next year, on February 23rd.

Album artwork

Newest single The King is an ongoing-charged groover driven by a mindbending non-stop bass riff that clashes now and then with a frantic guitar but never backs down. Koukol‘s storytelling vocals complete the stellar sonic picture.

Tune in.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. ‘Beside Myself’ by THE 76 CLUB (UK)

Formed in 2022, in Burton-Upon-Trent, England The 76 Club are a 5 -piece alternative rock outfit. Combining ethereal guitar tones with punchy, bass ridden choruses, the group are certainly not afraid to demonstrate their various individual influences.

‘Beside Myself’ is all about the uncertainty that comes with breaking up with someone
and the rollercoaster of emotions, wondering if it was the right decision. The lyrics capture
the vulnerability and the longing for closure. It’s a relatable and heartfelt song that
many people can connect with.

Beside Myself is only their second piece. It’s a fiery cry out whit the guitar and bass
amps turned up and the band’s front Amazon adds vocal fervency, especially
on the flustered chorus. Bingo! Btw, is that Debbie Harry on the single’s artwork?

Go.

5. ‘West End Girls’ by SLEAFORD MODS (Nottingham, UK)

The mods will have a new limited-edition 7″ single out next month – pre-order info here – with all profits going to Shelter, an organization that helps people with housing issues and homelessness.

For the occasion they covered Pet Shop Boys‘s
gigantic hit West End Girls (more than 245 million
streams on Spotify).

Enjoy.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

6. ‘Brambles’ by FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES (UK)

Frank Carter about this second new shared track: “Brambles is a melancholic bop born
from the bramble thorns of love we let grow around us until we are tangled with no method
of escaping unscathed.”

Again we hear the romantic side of Carter, delivered
with avid heart-and-soul passion. Impressive.

Play.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

7.’Globe’ by IRINA IMME (London, UK)

This London-based songstress wrote, in her short musical journey so far, already
250+ songs. Wow, The Beatles fabricated only 1988 tunes in their 10-year career.

Globe is a standout track from her versatile new 6-track EP Blue Forever. Her third. The song is a haunting tale of a lost soul navigating the ups and downs of life. It’s a heartfelt mood swing piece, going forth and back with Imme‘s emotive voice shining in the middle.

Top!

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

8. ‘Feel Me’
by GIRL WITH A HAWK (Boston, MA)

Girl with Hawk is an American rock band formed
in 2021 and led by musician Linda S. Viens.

The song is dedicated to Justine Covault, the founder of
Boston‘s Red On Red Records who passed away last summer.

Viens: “I can’t say that we have closure yet; as it has only been six months since we lost Justine, but I would say that the way the song seems to embody our heartache, and at the same time confirm that our relationship is still a living them, whether you believe that or not, does bring some comfort.”

Music, as we know, has a healing power. Hopefully, the electrifying guitar energy at work here and Viens‘ poignant vocals can have that healing impact on everybody involved, family and friends, in this tragedy.

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. ‘Lovers‘ by PILLS FOR TOMORROW (Grenoble, France)

This fresh French band cites shoegaze and neo-psychedelica and
related bands such as BJM, My Bloody Valenne, Mogwai and Spacemen 3
as influences.

Lovers is one of the two cuts on their debut EP, titled Castle Rock.

It’s a dreamy and smoothly progressing jam that grows slowly but surely in
intensity and anxiety along its exhilarative path caused by inflamed guitars
going while singer Nathalie Valion‘s vocals float all over it.

Check in.

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

10. ‘Roadrunner Vs. Your Mother by THE MAGIC CITY (Boston, MA)

The Magic City is a new Boston-based rock band.

Roadrunner Vs. Your Mother is a provocative debut offering,
with roots that stretch from Britpop to post-punk to glam to
classic alternative.

It’s an amplified, melancholic-sounding reverie that triggers your daydreaming moments.
Its astounding guitar-infused and vivid vocals/harmonies coloured chorus takes the song to a zippy level. Splendid debut!

FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES – Romantic Endearment On Second New Piece ‘BRAMBLES’ From Their Upcoming Album

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

19 November 2023

Press photo

Last month FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES shared details of a new album. It’s their fifth, it’s named DARK RAINBOW and lands on 26 January 2024. More info here.

The first single Man Of The Hour was a superb surprise, showing the softer side
of post-hardcore punk and tattoo artist Carter. Power balladry at its very best.

Album artwork

Frank Carter about the second new piece BRAMBLES: “Brambles is a melancholic
bop born from the bramble thorns of love we let grow around us until we are tangled with no method of escaping unscathed. Like our neural pathways become stronger and deeper with each unconscious action, the thorns of love hook deeper and the brambles wrap tighter until we are barely recogniseable and even our loved ones can no longer comfort us or lead us to safety for fear of being cut and torn themselves. An ode to the passion of love and a warning not to get lost in it when you go looking.”

Again we hear the romantic side of Carter, delivered
with avid heart-and-soul endearment. Fervent stroke.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

3. ‘In Slow-Motion’ by EX-HYENA (Boston, MA)

This synth-pop duo is warming up for their third full length ‘A Kiss of the Mind’

Lead single ‘In Slow Motion’ is dark-synth-wave pizazz at its haunting best.
Booming beats rotate on and on towards a full orchestral plangency while
shadowy vocals add even more sinister vibes.

Score!

________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. ‘Mouth Yellow’ by PHUTURE MEMORIEZ (New York, US)

These masked synth-punk freaks from Vancouver (CA)
produce lots of mayhem on their new album Play Cobra.
One of the 5 best albums of the month on TUTV’s list.

Mouth Yellow is one of the crazy corkers.
Fasten your seatbelt, folks. It’s a rough ride.

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. ‘TK421’ by LENNY KRAVITZ (US)

The veteran superstar born Leonard Albert Kravitz in New York City 59 years
ago has his new longplayer – a double one – dubbed ‘Blue Electric Light’ out
on 15 March 2024.

On the video for the first taster ‘TK421’ Kravitz
drops his towel and shakes a lot of body parts.

Rock your ass off, Lenny.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

6. ‘Downtown Operation’ by DUBINSKI (Edinburgh, Scotland)

Four brothers who’ve literally been through everything together – from childhood
through adolescence, success and grief – using music as the gel to hold them in place.

This first cut from their forthcoming 2nd album is a pure not-so-happy
pop pearl about the doom and gloom era we’re living in.

Its whirling groove, its ebullient beat, its glistering synth flashes, its vivacious
harmonies and last but not least its tremendously infectious chorus combine
for a top-notch earworm. Think Everything Everything and/or Hot Chip turning
up the heat.

Watch/listen.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

7. ‘lie’ by MILLIE MILNER & THE DEADNAMES (Manchester, UK)

Beginning as a solo project and growing into a band, Millie Milner & The Deadnames
of Manchester, UK was forged with a stronger mission at the heart to be the queer representation that the band’s members struggled to find in their own teenage years.

Lie was inspired by a breakup of Milner‘s and co-penned by a friend. It tells of
a need to take ownership of their life and their choices and the newfound element
of fun and recklessness they found themselves surrounded by as a newly single
person.

It’s indie at its vivid best. Sparkling guitars going berserk now and then, firm
drum hits, crystal clear vocals/harmonies, evocative lyrics, and a steamy chorus.

Clap your hands.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

8. ‘Plastic Punks’ by AUTOGRAMM (Seattle, Chicago and Vancouver)

This Vancouver pop-punks have, so far, 2 albums
on their résumé and #3 waiting in the pipeline.

But first this old-school punk chant.
It’s fun, it’s witty, it’s pogo time.

Jump.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

9. ‘Dream Job’ by YARD ACT (Leeds, UK)

These British indies shot to the top like a comet
last year with their ace debut LP The Overload.

Dream Job is a chirpy harbinger for album number two,
baptized ‘Where’s My Utopia’ shows up on 1 March 2024.

Tune in.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

10. ‘Dead Moon Rising‘ by CACTUS FLOWERS (Houston, Texas)

This psych-rock act is fronted by Jessica A.M., whose mother photographed bands for
the legendary Rolling Stone music weekly during the magazine’s counter-culture heyday.

Their new sultry mid-tempo garage blues-rock corker is fuelled by echoing, rollicking
riffs, steady drum hits and bewitching Jessica A.M. vocals. Dead Moon Rising resonates
like glorious legends The Cramps with a mean machine vibe, rock-and-psycho-billy
swagger and footstompin’ dynamics. From bad moon rising to dead moon rising.

Check in.

.
________________________________________________________________________________________________

11. ‘Run Run Run’ by THE LIBERTINES (London, UK)

The Libs met in the studio once again for a new LP.
It’s been 8 years since the release of their 3rd album
Anthems For Doomed Youth, which was their first
in 11 years back then.

Their new one ‘All Quit On The Easter Esplanade
and comes our way on 8 March 2024.

Run Run Run is a sickly sticky runner.
A vintage Libertines anthem.

Let’s roll.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

12. ‘Violence’ by EMPTY HEAD (Belgium)

Two years after the release of their charged self-titled debut EP Empty Head are
back with a brand new follow-up EP named Tales Of A Modern Man. A 5-track
one anchored by the overarching theme of the Modern Man and bristling with
a wiry tension.

Opener Violence sets the tone with its hammering beats, its inflammable
guitar galvanism and frontman Simon Galloy‘s sky-scraping vocals.

Strike!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

13. ‘Gift Wrap’ by GAS KÜNST (UK)

Garage punk misfits from Cheshire, UK produced 2 EPs so far them out here.

And on this new speedball they go fast forward, with sharp-teethed
gusto, with high-voltage garage dash and biting vocals. All burners on.

Bang-on.

.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

14. ‘Sowieso F***ed’ by USE KNIFE Belgium/Iraq)

This Belgian/Iraqi launched their excellent debut
full length The Shedding Of Skin, last year.

Their new piece is “a cynical “c’est-la-vie” anthem, set to a heavy 95 BPM beat and a disarray
of fucked up samples & sounds, about ten little wanderers who wander kilometers from home trying to belong. But home is where the heart is. And the House will never share its wealth.”

The release was initiated before the brutal reality of the genocide happening in Gaza.
Now, the cynical message must make way for solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

Expect a both haunting and hypnotic trip, with ominous slo-mo beats pounding
relentlessly with eerie chants all over it. Dark clouds in the air, calm before the storm, subdued electronic anger. It’s an alarming beast of a track.

Fuck all war-greedy political leaders.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

15. ‘Man Of The Hour’ by FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES

Press photo

Carter and Co release their fifth LP Dark Rainbow on 26 January 2024.

First single Man Of The Hour is a gorgeous surprise. Sonically and vocally
we get the softer side of the post-hardcore punk and tattoo artist. A super
duper ballad.

Sing it loud.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

16. ‘Birthday Cake’ by TEEN IDLE (Boston)

Abdelbarry: “The song reflects on having a friend who is acting in immature
ways you’ve outgrown, but knowing they still need your support and friendship.”

It features on her new notable album Nonfiction.

Birthday Cake is slow-progressing musing that appeals instantly with its
rudimentary PJ Harvey-esque guitar play and Abdelbarry‘s affectional voice.
The song has both a romantic and wistful sonority that captivates and moves.
And halfway melancholic synths accentuate the overall ruminate timbre in
an endearing way.

Arresting.

17. ‘Can’t Break You’ by CALEB ORR (Alabama, US)

Caleb Orr is a young skilled country-pop-rock singer-songwriter who grew up in Helena, Alabama. He found his passion for music at a young age. He and his two older siblings were raised on music legends like Alan Jackson, Van Halen, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

Great voice, great musicality, and great guitar play, echoing classic country
melancholia, and proving that the genre is simply timeless. As we all know, music can
have a healing, comforting and cathartic power and it also works here as Orr wants
to shake off bad habits of the past and want to focus on the future as a compelling
singer-songwriter.

Rad debut.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

18. ‘My Girls My Girls’ by THE KILLS (US/UK)

(Photo by Turn Up The Volume – Amsterdam, 2016)

Blues-rock tandem Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart are finally
back in town. Their 6th, marvelous LP God Games came out
last week.

One of my fav tracks is this sweet little gem.

.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

19. ‘Dusty Road’ by THE LAST HURRAH (!!) (Norway)

This is the brainchild of seasoned Norwegian singer-songwriter Hans Petter Gundersen

Dusty Road is a smooth mid-tempo country musing with a bluesy feel and both
a melancholic and yearning sensitivity. Warm voice, captivating melody, vintage
pedal steel guitar charm. All the matching ingredients for a warm sepia-colored
nugget.

Nostalgic Americana the Norwegian way.

It features on his brand new full lenght Modern Nostalgia.

.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

20. ‘Landlord’ by ALREADY DEAD (Boston, MA)

Dan Cummings fronts Boston’s rowdy trio Already Dead

No wall-of-Already-Dead-dynamite electricity this time. Cummings
picked up his acoustic guitar and wrote this bone-chilling cry-out
about living on the edge of drowning or surviving.

Imagine British leftist/political activist and terrific veteran songsmith Billy Bragg
raising his voice or equally politically driven folk legend Woody Guthrie killing fascists
again with his wooden guitar. Landlord‘s profound emotions go from hope to despair
and back, and Cummings‘ anxious vocals send shivers down your spine.

Captivating.

Top stroke.

5. ‘Peace’ by AUTOMAN (London, UK)

These 4 young gunslingers release their debut EP,
titled ‘Vegetables’, on October 20.

But first this Peace taster.

Freddie Brown (songwriter): “‘Peace’ channels that feeling of when your brain is so loud
that you can’t sleep; in the middle of the night, your thoughts are at their worst, and that acute sense of paranoia can quickly spiral out of control. I wrote it in the middle of the night, thinking I was copying Morning Bell by Radiohead. I got hooked on this two chord sequence, addicted to the way they don’t quite solve each other – just the right amount of uncomfortable.”

Peace funks and punks forth and back driven by a foot-stompin’
groove and creeps under your skin without asking permission.

Check in.

sonically, holds your attention throughout. High-voltage stuff.

soulful and bluesy cry-out driven by profound emotions.

Enjoy.

9. ‘Embarrassing’ by BRITTA RACI (Los Angeles)

Songtress Raci about the song: “I really just want ‘embarrassing’ to come across as
a raw-emotion break up song—nobody talks about how embarrassing it is to have to
tell your friend group that your significant other and you broke up.

Crystal clear voice.
Mixed emotions.
Effervescent tunefulness.

Tune in.

10. ‘Sweet Sounds Of Heaven’ by THE ROLLING STONES (UK)

Sweet Sounds Of Heaven is the 2nd single from their new upcoming LP, is an instant classic mixing the Stones‘ characteristic way of writing impassioned blues-rock ballads and mixing it with sky-scraping gospel delirium (think ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’).

Next to Mick Jagger‘s astonishing vocal effort comes
Lady Gaga with a wonderstruck vocal tour de force.

FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES Surprise With Pure Power Pop Ballad ‘MAN OF THE HOUR’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

28 September 2023

Press photo

FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES are warming up for their new album, their fifth.
It’s baptized DARK RAINBOW and arrives on 26 January 2024. Pre-order info here

Album artwork

First single: MAN OF THE HOUR

Carter: “We talk about how rock’n’roll will never die, but we never really talk about how maybe the idea of the rock star should die. The whole concept and what it means has always been this glamorised moment, but ultimately when I put that suit on, it didn’t go very well for me. I’m just witnessing the world change so quickly and I’m still trying to come to terms with who I am and what the authentic version of me is. By giving people what I thought they wanted I think I got further and further away from who I actually am.”

TUTV: Man Of The Hour is a gorgeous surprise. Sonically and vocally we get

power ballad. Super-duper. Sing it loud.

year.

Two weeks ago they nailed it big time with a brand-new nasty
haymaker called The Drugs featuring Carter‘s buddy Jamie T.

And here’s another new fireball named PARASITE.

Band: THUMPER
Who: Maximalist rockers
from Dublin, Ireland

Single: SUMMER ASSAULT

“It’s a vignette of self sabotage, an anthem of small failure. It’s about a doomed relationship that carries on regardless — a narrator banging on the glass trying
to warn the song’s inhabitants. Each melody and hook competes for space over
an ever expanding wall of guitars, bass and their signature double drums. In just
over three minutes, “Summer Assault” sees THUMPER boil their trademark noise
wall into an earworm of a pop song.”

Expect a concrete wall-of-schizophrenic-guitar sound, enough twists and turns
to make your head spin uncontrollably and a gigantic chorus spiced with flustered
vocals.

Yes, a stunning stonker.

Band: TRAGICOMICS

Who: Manchester-based troubadour Christopher Eatough who returned in 2017, having spent several years away from the music scene, emerged from his struggle with mental health with a raft of new material and a renewed sense of romantic fatalism. Determined to find a like-minded, ragtag collective of musicians to help bring the songs to life, Eatough brought friends and musicians from across the Northwest together. So far the collective canned/released 2 albums: Old Songs For The New Celibacy (2017) and Book Of Want (2021).

New single: HOPELESS ROMANTIC

“The track bursts with Tragicomics’ swaggering, earthy take on folk-rock. Their diverse influences – ranging from pop, folk and rock to tin pan alley, prog and Americana – shine brightly as off-kilter rock guitar is combined effortlessly with Eatough’s charismatic vocals,
the soaring soundscapes of violin, gritty bass lines and relentless drum beat.”

Put on your blue suede punk-rock shoes, you’ll need them to dance, jump,

Who: Ponderous post-punk three-piece from the UK.

I heard and watched this British post-hardcore bulldozer play
in Antwerp, Belgium recently. They blew my mind and turned
me into an instant fan. What a find.

Here’s why…

Band: RED LAMA
Who: Formed by five friends from Svendborg, Denmark in 2011. Since then, the sextet has been refining their unique take on psych rock, music for the inner journey, carried forward by melody, groove and soundscapes exploding in grand crescendos.

Single: CHAOS IS THE PLAN
Third shared track from the upcoming new
album – their 3rd – Memory Terrain, landing
on 4 November.

Expect a hypnotic and magnetic psych jam moving
hauntingly, propelled by a groovy bass riff, sinister
synth layers, weeping guitars and emotive vocals.

Grand score!

Band: THE PULL OF AUTUMN
Who: The art-rock collective of Rhode Island musician Daniel Darrow,
from 80s post-punk group Johanna’s House Of Glamour. working
constantly with other notable artists

New album – the 4th – Beautiful Broken World is a 15-track
undertaking that involves a number of experienced musicians.
It arrives on 18 November. Pre-order info here

The first single, named OUTLAW EMPIRE grooves and moves with Massive Attack‘s
trip-hop swagger, spacey reverberance, and a mesmeric, ongoing dub rotation. If you were/are a Pop Group fan you’ll recognize Maffia Godfather Mark Stewart‘s voice from
the first note.

It’s a beautiful swing-and-sway activator
for a broken world, as we know it.

Artist: HANG LINTON

Who: British musician, visual artist, filmmaker
and avant-funk enchanter based in Berlin.

Debut single: SALE feat. LeBron Aggressive

TUTV: This funky hip-hop uplift does what great hip-hop vibes do. Having
a prompt impact on your hips’ movements that in turn activate your whole
body’s spryness. Think of rap hero Roots Manuva‘s flamboyant flow.

SALE is for sale, go get it.

Band: BUGEYE
Who: Female pop quartet from London blending cherry-liqueur lyrics, bubblegum-kneecap bass electrics, goth-heavy drum compactions & hi-rise guitar sculptures.

Single: SUMMER IN THE CITY
“A song that explores the highs and lows and stories of life in the city. From feeling like you’re winning in life, to turning a corner to tensions and violence, to dating app cringeworthy dating experiences and the death of David Bowie. It is a playful song that highlights our fickle nature and our scrolling boredom obsession.”

Time flies. It’s already 2 years since these 4 colorful Amazons had their swinging
dance-punk debut LP Ready Steady Bang out. But the wait is over with this new
firecracker. It’s sexy bugglegum pop, it’s groovy electro-funk, it’s effervescent fun.

Helloooo!

Band: PAISLEY PARC
Who: Robust rockers from
Merthyr Tydfil, Wales

Single: COMPLICATED

“The song captures the frustrations of people across the globe as we all try to make
sense of our new emerging world following the pandemic and the economic mayhem
it has created.”

This Welsh turbo bring their celebrated countrymen Stereophonics to mind here, but
with three guitarists, a John Bonham drummer and a red-hot-blooded vocalist who’s alarming voice fits the confusing times we live in. Wowzers!

“Don’t call the doctor he won’t save you tonight”

Band: BLACK NITE CRASH
Who: A psych collective started by Jim Biggs (vocals, guitar) twenty years ago
in Seattle Washington. The band had more than 30 members over the years.

They just released a new full length, baptized Washed In The Sound
Of Black Nite Crash
, the band’s fifth. A must hear psychedelic journey.

Opener THE TAKE sets the tone for the full remarkable longplayer.
Influences by masters of the genre such as jangly hero Anton Newcombe
and his Brianjones Town Massacre gang, The Black Angels, and Heart
are all around.

Top stuff!

KAT KOAN is a Berlin-based artist with a passion for expressing intense emotions through music and visuals. With her Belgian musical partner Raymond Rose she canned her second album Coccoon and released it on 7 October.

A sonically versatile and compelling record with Koan speaking and singing
her mind and her heart out. Think Garbage‘s charismatic lady Shirly Manson.

One of my fav tracks is this moody pearl titled STAY
featuring Freddie Dickson and her band The Lost Souls.

Band: CMON CMON
Who: Indie rock trio from Belgium, signed by renowned manager
Stephen Budd (Gang Of Four, Heaven 17, The Magic Numbers)

Single: SAY WHAT IT MEANS
From their new self-titled debut EP.

The jangly guitars and the glossy resonance of R.E.M. and Teenage Fanclub are obvious,
but my ears also detect the slacker rock mood of Dinosaur Jr. ‘Say What It Means’ is an
ideal post-summer musing for grey Autumn days for confused and vulnerable souls.

Band: MIKE & THE NERVE
Who: A Florida-based folk punk band.

Debut single: CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER

Mike Llerena (vocalist/songwriter) “This song is our love letter to The Fest, a punk rock festival held in Gainesville every year during Halloween weekend. I’ve attended, volunteered, and/or played at Fest almost every year for the past decade and I’ve made a lot of great friendships and memories because of it.”

Melancholia on Halloween? Why not? When it sounds moony, warm
and romantic as Christmas In October does I’m all ears. So should you.

No retirement for 80-year-old JOHN CALE.

The Welsh icon will release his 17th solo longplayer, titled Mercy
on 20 January 2023 via Double Six/Domino.

Single NIGHT CRAWLING was written with David Bowie in mind when
both had fun in New York City in the 70s. It’s a synth-trippy and chilling
reflection.

Band: MODERN STARS
Who: Spacey shoegazers from Italy. Their work is loaded with stringed
and electronic sounds laid down through a multilayering approach that
has more in common with Indian traditional music and Techno,

Single: DROWNING
New piece from the trio’s upcoming third album,
named Space Trips For The Masses.

If I tell you that my ears here echoes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre
and The Black Angels on Drowning you know that you’ll enter a dark space
with enigmatic, psychedelic encounters.

Roll the tape and get puzzled…

Holy Cow! FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES With JAIMIE T Rant Against ‘THE DRUGS’

Works faster than caffeine

19 October 2022

(Press photo via C & The R)

Scottish post-hardcore punk and tattoo artist FRANK CARTER
and his RATTLESNAKES had their 4th longplayer Sticky out last year
(Carter also released 3 albums with his first band Gallows and 1 under
the moniker of Pure Love)

They’re back now together with Carter‘s friend Jamie T
with an anti-drugs song. A nasty rant. Holy cow.

Carter: “‘The Drugs’ was written after a few long conversations with
some beautiful friends of mine who had been struggling with addiction.
Life is a difficult journey, it’s easier with good friends around.”

Frank about Jamie T: “Jamie has been my friend since we bumped into
each other backstage at a gig in Austin, Texas. Gallows had just finished
playing a set, I had been punched in the face and he walked in and I just
smiled a bloody smile and we’ve been friends ever since.”

Their message is loud and clear.

You don’t take the drugs
The drugs take you
Tear your life apart
Until there’s nothing left to lose
They smash apart your mind
And they steal your love
The drugs take you
You don’t ever take the drug
