These young British punk-pop gunslingers will follow their blistering 5-track debut EP Parasite with their debut LP Killjoy on 8 September. It will surely crank up the (justified)
hype around this mean rock machine. Can’t wait to see them live (in Belgium).
Trust me, Coach Party is a point in life.

3. ‘METALI!!’ by BABY METAL (Japan)
The kawaii metal girls teamed up with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello
for this new head-banging blast. Their mix of catchy metal, pop-punk melodies and
pithy/screamy vocals is a is infallible formula.
Hell bloody metali yeah!

4. ‘S l o w l y, L o n g’ by VIRGINS (Belfast, Ireland)
Their 2022 debut EP Transmit A Little Heaven made it loud and
clear that these young shoegazers like to turn up amps and speed.
S l o w l y, l o n g confirms that sonic taste with layers of scintillating guitars going
everywhere fast and a swirling drummer who never backs down. And singer Rebecca
Dow‘s hallucinatory vocals add both a ghostly and sensuous feel.

5. ‘Ozone Scraper’ by DJ SHADOW (US)
The now 51-year-old, celebrated drum/bass/hip-hop DJ has his
new, 7th LP, named Action Adventure out on 27 October.
Ozone Scraper is the first single, pretty poppy-mainstream,
for DJ Shadow‘s standards.

6. ‘Hippocandy’ by DRY WHITE BONES (UK)
Hippocandy is a railroad journey, insistent repeating rhythm and wailing blues harp,
growly voice and Rock n Roll feel guitar all adds up to a crazy mixed genre that hints
of Folk, Bluegrass, Rock, Gypsy, Industrial, hip hop and post punk.
The crazed harmonica play, the raw punk-blues pace, the bewildering
groaning/howling vocals. The ghost of Captain Beefheart is omnipresent.

7. ‘Not The Man’ by VICKY VON VICKY (Ontario, CA)
Artwork by Michael Wynn
VvV is the musical project of Michael Wynn. Last summer inspired him to write
this new piece, in the voice of someone who is looking for purpose, and some
sort of legacy in their life.
Not The Man is a rollicking earworm your eager ears just can’t resist.
It’s a glorious-amplified pop tune, that in a normal world, should be
a hit.

8. ‘Jim Bristol’ by JOE RIAN (Midwest/Chicago)
Rian is a seasoned troubadour/songwriter who likes to stir the sounds of Roots, Country and Folk into a nice pot of musical soup. Along with his band he released a new album, titled Midwest Boy.
Highlight Jim Bristol made me instantly think of Johnny Cash going to Reno, and killing
a man just to watch him die. Well, that’s what the late icon told us when he had some Folsom prison blues.

9. ‘Die Down’ by TV PEOPLE (Dublin, Ireland)
Unveiling an audacious blend of post-punk and alternative rock in a dark
and gritty sonic landscape, TV People are set to make waves in the
indie music scene with this deeply profound new single.
Die Down reflects on cyclical patterns of love, conflict, and resolution in a relationship.
It is written from the perspective of a person who feels trapped in a negative cycle in their love life, where unresolved issues repeatedly cause pain to both them and their partner despite the immense love and support that flows between them.
Expect an electrical, layered guitar-driven track that changes speed along
its moody course while heartfelt vocals going through the relationship crisis.

Topper is best known as the drummer of the last punk band in town, The Clash.
He played with them from 1977 to 1982. He also drummed in Mick Jones‘ own
group Big Audio Dynamite. He was/is a multi-instrumentalist who also loved/played jazz, soul, R&B, and reggae. He recorded/released one solo LP, Waking Up in 1986.

Chrashing In The Name Of – TOM MORELLO Goes Down And Get Ups At RAGTM Concert In Toronto
Two nights ago at the Rage Against The Machine concert in Toronto,
guitarist Tom Morello was unintentionally pushed down by a security
guard while chasing a fan who found, somehow, a way to invade the stage
when the band started their classic concert closer Killing In The Name.
“Hold up! Hold up!” screamed Zack de la Rocha and stopped the performance,
but Morello was back on his feet and on stage in no time, supported by cheers
from the crowd.
Zack then yelled “Don’t try that shit. We’re cool, we love y’all but don’t do that”
before re-starting the blistering finale.
The crashing in the name of‘ happens around the 1-minute mark
below, towards the left of the stage where Morello was situated.
Fuck you, I won’t stay down, brother.
Watch out, Tom, lots of concerts yet to come.

Morello: “Fire and Flood are my London Calling. Admiring The Clash at their apex
moment, I sought to make a double album where artistic intent supersedes genre.
I aimed to forge a central curated vision to tie together a sonically fearless, wild,
and wide-ranging musical ambition with a tremendous cast of collaborators.
And of course, there are many guitar solos.”
On the Flood another cast of famous names – like Idles, Nathaniel Rateliff,
Manchester Orchestra, Ben Harper, Barns Courtney and more – lined up to
blow off the studio’s roof with the Rage Against The Machine turbine.
NME says: “More experimental than ‘Fire’, ‘Flood’ finds Tom Morello out
to prove that, just like his beloved electric guitar, he has a fascinating

This week Wilco‘s maestro dropped two new songs. This one is my favorite.
Tweedy says: “It’s a wry classic rocker from an unreleased group of songs with
mostly sci-fi lyrics.” Sci-fi lyrics? To my ears, this song’s content is crystal clear,
hearing these lines over and over again “What you gonna do, now that the world
is turned against you / C’mon America.”

‘Nowhere’ by BUD (Canada)
This Canadian singer-songwriter “wanted to capture that feeling of “I have no idea
what’s going on but let’s figure this one out!” depicting the energy in a dystopian world
while recognizing that we are the energy that can create positive change.” I guess we
all had to go through a ‘who am I?‘ phase, if not it will hit you sooner or later.
But wait, this full-on glam-bam stomper might be the start of a more optimistic state
of mind. You don’t take a risk with going loose for 160 seconds. On the contrary, free yourself, get up and dance and go somewhere.

Turn Up the Volume: I like his enflaming and riff-crazy electricity.
I like his humanitarian views and his anti-rock ‘n’ roll star attitude.
And, yes, I like this fireworks album.

The band says that this new crackerjack is “an anti-love anthem about the grief and
pitfalls of a serious relationship crumbling due to lies and deceit. This is explored through
the eyes of Bonnie (of Bonnie & Clyde fame), in an alternative universe where Clyde selfishly leaves Bonnie for dead.” Bonnie takes revenge because of the end of their romantic,
albeit toxic relationship.
