Portland’s Electro Act CHROMATICS Covers HOLE’s Darksome ‘PETALS’ Track…

Countless fans are still waiting for Portland‘s electro act CHROMATICS‘ follow-up LP to their fourth longplayer called  Kill For Love released in 2012. Actually a new full length titled Dear Tommy was already announced back in 2014 but except for some singles no new full record yet.

To ease the impatience the band, let by the charismatic Ruth Radelet, has shared their cover of ‘PETALS‘, a song by Courtney Love‘s former band HOLE (from their splendid 1998 Celebrity Skin LP). Chromatics take is more hopeful, more romantic and lighter that the original. Check it out here…

Who: this LA-based force “is the brainchild of wunderkind newcomer Amber Bollinger and rock veteran/producer Alex Dezen. Their boomy, low-fi sound soothes and scrapes in equal measure, with Bollinger’s bright, wispy vocals turning into adrenal-fueled rants with little warning. Score: Open your ears and alert your senses, ladies and gents, because here’s something truly exciting. There are so many things going on that you’ll need a couple of spins to hear, feel and see the whole spellbinding picture. After a short meditative intro with singer and trombonist Siya Makuzeni‘s multi-layered vocals upfront, a bass-driven groove kicks in and from that moment on multiple instruments join and start a trance-like jam that will puzzle your perception. One-man-sound-exploring-band out of Boston called SKYJELLY has a brand new 6-track Cassette out (music also available digitally). If your aural senses only can be awakened by blood-curdling, otherworldly and spooky sounds then open the doors of your sleeping ears and absorb a series of soul-searching escapades starting with a crushingly crooning Hello My Friend welcome, followed then by earthshaking top cut Terra Nostra, wailing White Wolves, a melancholic Big Mouth, a heavily drone called The Holy One and finally the cacophonic tour de force entitled K-Dot.
