Indie Rockers THE RINGARDS Show Their Moody Side On New Track ‘VELVET PELVIC’…

New sonic impulses

29 October 2019

After a trio of zesty singles London‘s indie rockers THE RINGARDS return with their smoothest cut so far. New track ‘VELVET PELVIC‘ is about “pressure and never being good enough in the eyes of your loved ones, including your own parents“. A familiar, recognizable and, unfortunately, a theme of all times for countless young people, as legends The Who voiced, perfectly spot-on, in their classic hit ‘My Generation‘.

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

29 October 2019

After two albums of electric guitar-fuelled rock and a tumultuous year of transition and self-discovery Canadian rockers RADIO FREE UNIVERSE looked inward and decided “to write songs of love, loss, and renewal that are shaped by personal experience and real emotion, songs that remind you what it means to be human, and why music matters.”

First result of their new direction is an instant triumph. ‘SHE’S HIGH AGAIN‘ is a tower
of a song bringing the first-rate songwriting quality of legendary bands such as the Eagles and The Band to mind. Here’s a solid gold humdinger that combines Canadacana, rock, pop and soul in order to create a universal and appealing sound that you just can not like. Happy 73 to blues legend PETER GREEN – real name Peter Allen Greenbaum – who
co-founded blues band FLEETWOOD MAC in 1967 (along with current members Mick Fleetwood and John McVie). He was born 29 October 1946. Despite being only 3 years
in the group the exceptional gifted singer/songwriter and awesome guitarist wrote a
series of brilliant, timeless classics, therefore he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall
Of Fame
in 1998. He left the band in 1970 due to severe mental health problems. In 1979 he returned to the scene, collaborating with various artists, releasing solo records and playing live. Peter Green is still active today (see his FB-Page at the bottom).

Here are three timeless pearls to celebrate this outstanding musician’s birthday…

Black Canadian Sheep JACKIE Drop New Sparky Single ‘LIFETIME IN A TOUCH’…

New sonic impulses

Band: JACKIE (Winnipeg, Canada)

Who: “This trio is not a rock band, or a pop band, or one of those alt-indie darlings that you just know has been packaged for FROSH week. If you must put them in a box, it’s best you just call Jackie a black sheep.”

Song: LIFETIME IN A TOUCH – newest single – essentially “a song about heartbreak, but it’s told through a positive outlook. The lyrics in the verses represent the past lover that engulfed and controlled you, while the chorus reminds you that there is more to life than lovers. The
song was inspired by a few magnums of red wine, that and Tom Petty.”

Score: A red blood cells injection to wake up to in the morning and give your adrenalin’s stream a big banging boost before falling out of bed. This sparky, uplifting and elevating zinger will stimulate your positive energy so intensely that you’ll listen to it the next few mornings too. And to be honest, I never ever heard black sheep giving me an inspiring kick up the ass and pump up my body’s temperature in a way this woolen trio does. Hallelujah!

Multifaceted New York Artist STIMMERMAN Shares New Blasting Cut From Upcoming LP – Here’s ‘IT SHOWS’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

28 October 2019

Who: A native New Yorker, Stimmerman is the recording moniker of Eva Lawitts, a music lifer having played on records/toured with artists like Vagabon and Princess Nokia and is 1/2 of the team behind Wonderpark Studios in Brooklyn

Pick: IT SHOWS – newest single from her first ‘Stimmerman‘ album called ‘Goofballs‘.
An album about loss and survivor’s guilt, out next December

Score: ‘It Shows‘ is a metallic blast about getting rid of survivor’s guilt, a profound blowup about fighting demons that can destroy you if you let them go their ravaging way. This cathartic eruption seems to be driven by angst, rage and self-condemnation. Going mental and screaming your head off helps I guess to get rid of all these soul-destroying emotions. It shows here anyway.

It’s already 6 years that LOU REED left us. In May 2013, he underwent a liver transplant
as he was diagnosed with liver cancer but on 27 October 2013 the iconic artist, eccentric and capricious performer, genial and controversial lyricist and prominent and idiosyncratic poet lost his health battle, he was 71. From the groundbreaking New York City bohemians The Velvet Underground to his ups and downs solo career Reed was a sonic explorer and exceptional observer and storyteller. R.I.P.

Here are three of Turn Up The Volume‘s favorite Lou Reed Classics from his captivating, passionate and truly special live performance in 1984 at Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ .
