Band:THE ORDINARY THINGS
Who: An indie-rock trio from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The band’s name
was inspired by the concept of wabi-sabi, the acceptance of transience
and imperfection. Their music aims to capture this concept and all of the
ordinary, but beautiful things experienced in day-to-day life.
Album: SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN – 2nd LP
Released: 21 February 2021 –
Turn Up The Volume: This 2-year-old trio excels in offering songs to match
your mood swings. They rock like hell (I’ll Be Leaving / It Doesn’t Matter / Buried
Under Ashes), they light romantic candles for the midnight hours (Lullaby / Fall
/ Human / Mighty Hand) and they trip from amplified folk (Joe’s Song) to CSN & Y
blues (Fade Away). Vocalist and drummer Jackie Chacon‘ vocals are omnipresent,
echoing big voices – depending on the vibe of the song – like Debbie Harry, Bonnie
Raitt, Emmmylou Harris and Sharon Van Etten. I guess you can see the affecting
picture in your mind. This is a record to embrace with your heart and soul.
