Having carried out a bit of research, I’ve discovered that and I hope you don’t mind me telling you, that the gentleman depicted on the cover of ‘Will the Circle Be Unbroken’ is in fact Admiral David Dixon Porter, commander of the Federal Mississippi Squadron and not General Fitzjohn Porter.
