The imperishable rock phenomenons THE ROLLING STONES
will tour again this year to celebrate their 60th birthday as a band.
They just announced the Europe/UK dates. One of the shows is in Brussels, Belgium (my home country).
Watch the decadent entrance prices. From 149 euro (125 £ / 163 USD)
to 489 EURO euro (411 £ / 536 USD). If you’re a youngster who wants to
see the legends you need to rob a bank first. I didn’t know that the price
of wheelchairs for old rockers is that expensive. Anyway, The Stones play
only rock ‘n’ roll for the rich and they like it.
TOYAH and husband ROBERT FRIPP (King Crimson) started
their weekly Sunday Lunch Sessions as a fun pastime while
being locked up in their kitchen due to that nasty virus,
about 2 years ago.
And their clownesque performances on the 7th day
of the week are still scoring on YouTube.
This time the two basketcases had a green (Sun) day…. .
THOM YORKE is pretty busy lately. He writes music for TV Shows, he recentlly
started, along with other Radiohead man Jonny Greenwood a new band called The Smile.
And here comes a brand new solo composition, titled 5.17. A tranquil ballad with ghostly Yorke vocals. The song is one of two new ones. The second That’s How Horses Are arrives in a few weeks.
Scottish dream-pop heroes BELLE AND SEBASTIAN just dropped a brand new song calledIF THEY’RE SHOOTING AT YOU. A melancholic pearl released in support of the victims of the horrific war in Ukraine.
All proceeds of the song go to the Red Cross to help the Ukrainian people.
Stuart Murdoch (frontman/songwriter): “When the situation in Ukraine first started to happen it became clear that the lives of the people there, and probably ‘ours’ too, were never going to be the same. The band had just started rolling out tracks for our new album, and it
all felt a bit silly to be honest.
We had one track called “If They’re Shooting at You,” it’s a song about being lost, broken,
and under threat of violence. The key line is “If they’re shooting at you, kid, you must be doing something right. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and hope that their pain and suffering can be brought to a halt as soon as possible.
We think any way in which we can get behind Ukraine—politically, culturally, practically, spiritually—it must all add up in the end. Together we have to do what it takes to help Ukraine beat this tyranny. Please consider giving to the Disasters Emergency Committee, the Red Cross, or any other humanitarian charity involved in the crisis.”
The video is a series of images by photographers
who document the armed conflict in Ukraine.

The photo on the front is by English graphic designerStorm Thorgersonshowing people in the escalator tubes of the circular Terminal 1 building of the Charles de Gaulle Airport outside of Paris. On the left is a painting of a robot with a stylised atom for a brain.
Rob Gore (frontman): “The thing I value most in music is when an album
expresses some sort of pain or frustration, or hope that I also feel. I hope
this album makes people feel like something within themselves is reflected
in the wider world, and I hope that makes them feel less alone.”

CLASH Magazine says:” ‘Great American Painting’ is a record that is strongest for its instrumentation, featuring The Districts’ typical cross-streams of guitars that amply lamenting vocals, intriguing listeners by making reference to social issues within America. The Districts paint a Great American Painting that taps its toes in the pool of social justice without feeling overbearing or holding the holier-than-thou attitude we’ve come to know of some rock bands’ reinventions.” Full reviewhere. Score: 7/10.
Turn Up The Volume: I love this band. They proved over and over again that they can write sonic anthems with big sentiments and big guitar-driven orchestration, and they do
it again here. With a more refined sound now – think Band Of Horses – they’ve constructed several tunes where riffs, hooks and licks fall into place like pieces of a puzzle. Touchdown!
Key tracks: No Blood / Do It Over / White Devil / Outlaw Love / On Pur Parting, My Beloved
