Band: THE AUTEURS

Who: Alt rock group from London orchestrated by
singer-songwriter Luke Haines who never stopped
making music.

Active: 1991-1999

After the split, Luke Haines released several solo LPs,
wrote soundtracks for movies a couple of memoirs,
and played in some indie bands here and there.

Band: BURN THE LOUVRE
Who: The musical project of singer/songwriter Jordan Speare
assisted by guitarist/bassist and friend Andrew Billone

Debut Album: After a couple of EPs the pair’s canned their
first longplayer LP called Silhouettes. It will land at the end of
the year after all 11 tracks are released as a single – one every
month. The first one Wish We Were came out last January.

Second single: NICE GUY

Turn Up The Volume: I don’t know if it’s the world-famous and historic museum
in Paris that these not-so-nice guys want to burn. What I do know is that their jangly,
brisk and spirited sound is infectious and captivating with an immediate impact on
your body’s movements. Expect guitar pop electricity extra pushed by lively vocals.

Amazing Artwork! BUTTHOLE SURFERS 35 Years Ago

Who: Pysch punk rockers from San Antonia, Texas
Active: 1981-present / 8 studio LPs

Artwork: Cover of their 3rd longplayer called LOCUST ABORTION TECHNICIAN
Released March 1987 – 35 years ago this month.

The clown’s artwork refers to American serial killer John Wayne Gacy who assaulted
and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children’s hospitals and charitable events as Pogo the Clown or Patches the lown“, personas he had devised. He became known as the Killer Clown due to his public services as a clown
prior to the discovery of his crimes.

Who: The musical project of Bo Barringer and Reuben Bettsak
crafting the sound of an emerging dystopia, a sort of fantasy
land that existed along the margins of reality and within the
confines of the imagination. A very short time later, their music
is simply the sound of our enclosed reality.

New single: SIGHT UNSEEN
Cut from their sophomore album
‘Moon Reflections’ out June 24

Betts: “‘Sight Unseen’ is about how we fill our headspace with beautiful noise
and music to combat thoughts of loneliness. The line ‘From our beds into the
waves’ conjures up stormy dreams and memories. An ocean can be dangerous,
dark, and beautiful at the same time. Love can be those things as well.”

A rotating synth riff echoes British electro legends New Order and
is the beating heart of this new piece, yet the mood is meditative
and musing, strengthened by the near-whispering and eager vocals.
This darksome and soul-searching musing gets under your skin after
a couple of spins.

greatest hits: “It’s the same as writing a set-list for a festival: you want to play
the songs you know people want to hear. The hits. Bring the hits to the head.
The heart. The feet. That means obvious singles, but also songs you know have
a special meaning for both band and audience like ‘Outsiders’. We also added
two new songs, recorded last year: “Billy Goodbye” and “Curious”.

New Jersey’s Punk Legends MISFITS Released Debut LP ‘WALK AMONG US’ 40 Years Ago Today

Who: Sharp-cutting punks from Lodi, New Jersey
Active: 1977–1983, 1995–present / 7 LPs,
with Devil’s Rain (2011) as the most recent one

Anniversary album: WALK AMONG US – debut LP
Released: 12 March 1982 – 40 years ago today

Pitchfork: “They were outliers when they started, but by the time their classic debut arrived
in 1982, Misfits’ gleeful, ghoulish punk rock was exactly in tune with the national mood… Walk Among Us was a triumph for the band, solidifying their following and codifying their ominous image. But it marked an ending, not a beginning. Their next album, 1983’s Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood, was a huge shift away from their catchy, melodic, Ramones-influenced howl-alongs
and toward the more scathing blitzkrieg of hardcore.” Score: 9.5/10.
