Band: DOWN THE LEES
Who: The post-rock noise project of seasoned Canadian singer-songwritter-guitarist
Laura Lee Schultz. Backed by a bassist and a drummer DTL released 3 albums, an EP
and numerous singles so far.

New single: DEAD AND OVER

It’s the first release in over 3 years. The composition captures the raw emotions
of sadness, frustration, and anxiety that permeated throughout the years since
the pandemic began.

The creation and recording of this song led Laura Schultz down a new path,
involving the addition of new band members (Andy Ashley/Chris Carlson), new
music, and a renewed passion for being a musician. It’s true that hitting rock bottom
can often be the catalyst for realizing that the only way forward is to stand up and
keep moving.

TUTV: LL Schultz’s frustration and stressful state of mind caused by those two claustrophobic pandemic years are all over this high-strung cry out. Its ominous
mid-tempo progression and swelling structure advancing over an ongoing hypnotic
guitar riff send shivers down your spine.

Second by second, like a nervously ticking clock, the sonic poignancy and heartfelt fervidness grow with exuberance and magnitude until Schutlz’s monumental vocals go through the roof, and that rotating riff ends this cathartic swipe. Lockdown threw Schultz
to the mat, but it couldn’t knock her out and she’s back stronger than ever. Alive and kicking, again.
