Band: THE DOORMEN
Who: Post-punk outfit formed in 2009 in Ravenna,
Italy and led Vincenzo Baruzzi and Luca Malatesta.

New album: THE TRUTH IN A DARK AGE – their 5th

Artwork: The cover depicts two fugitive lovers, immortalised in an intimate
moment inside the cockpit of a car acting as a suit of armour. The kiss is the
only sincere and clean truth in this dark age. At the same time, it also symbolises
the original sin made up of temptations of consciences and bent wills.

Press info: This new record can be considered a concept album, each song revolving around the protagonist ‘The Freak’, presented in the first track ‘Night Shift‘ as a superhero who once stripped of his everyday clothes devotes himself to hunting down as much prey as possible, in order to imprison them and deprive them of their love. In the fourth track
‘A Freak’, after being trapped in his apartment and unable to hunt anymore, he completely loses his mind and finds himself fighting against loneliness and isolation. In the final track ‘Your Shape Pillow’, the protagonist finally comes to terms with his fears, embarking on a path of self-analysis and discovery.

TUTV: Want a reference? New York’s heroes Interpol, definitely on the first three tracks (Night Shift / Silence / Weeping Sins). Lots of glowing guitar electricity, a couple of bluesy reflections (A Freak / Glass Factory), shoegaze echoes throughout, an overall psychedelic sonority, and passional and haunting vocals. This record’s color is somber, the tone is somber, our reality is somber. Yes, this is a somber 2023 album. Not much light at the
end of the tunnel.
