THE ROLLING STONES – Today 60 Years Ago Their Timeless Classic ‘(I CAN’T GET NO) SATISFACTION’ Was Released

Top singles from the past

THE ROLLING STONES released one of their biggest hits
with (I CAN’T GET NO) SATISFACTION on 4 June 1965,
today 60 years ago.

It topped the UK and US charts and was also #1 in several European countries.

It was (as usual) written by glimmer twins Jagger & Richards, but it was Keef‘s ace
riff, intended to be replaced by horns, that made this classic the steamy stunner
we all know. Add the controversial lyrics about sexual aggravation and greedy commercialism and you have the hot recipe for a timeless blockbuster.

In the US (where the single was released a month later) it was initially
played only on pirate radios, because of the sexually suggestive content.
