Don’t Believe The Hype – L.A. Glam And Glitter Rockers STARCRAWLER Have Their Third Album ‘SHE SAID’ Out

New longplayers

19 September 2022

Band: STARCRAWLER
Who: Glam and glitter rockers from Los Angeles,
fronted by the utterly charismatic Aaron Dewilde.
Albums: Starcrawler (2018), Devour You (2019)
and now the new one.

New album: SHE SAID
Released: 16 September 2022 – buy here

Classic Rock Mag: “When you’ve built a reputation around taking it to the limit,
where do you go next? After two albums of high-intensity, febrile punk rock, you get the
feeling that Californian urchins Starcrawler were finding that to be a pressing question. Whirlwind frontwoman Arrow de Wilde has hinted that being stuck in top gear is beginning
to feel limited, while stage stunts such as spitting fake blood over the audience have
begun to “feel like a schtick”.
Score: 3/5.

Henri Cash (guitarist): “We wanted to make songs on this record
for everyone. For people that weren’t just into punk rock.”

TUTV: Starcrawler promised a more varied, sonically, LP than the 2 previous ones.
But the new record is still filled, mostly, with classic retro rock jackhammers, but less punky and fierce than before, with echoes of West-Coast glam legends Mötley Crüe and Quiet Riot (Roadkill / She Said / Stranded / True / Runaway) a couple of dream pop ditties (Broken Angels / Midnight) and a smooth candlelight closer Better Place. Except for a couple tracks, this LP is too mediocre to remember… in a week. Don’t believe the hype.

Band: STARCRAWLER
Who: Rowdy rock 5-piece from Los Angeles
led by eccentric frontwoman Arrow de Wilde
Active: Since 2015 / 2 albums so far

Dewilde: “‘Roadkill’ is about anyone that tries to dig their heels
in the ground and stand in your way. We’ve all had people try to tear
us down, and sometimes you just have to run right through them.”

Turn Up The Volume: This L.A. troupe interweave classic rock
and garage grit with glam gusto and razor-edged riffage. Eccentric
mutineer Arrow de Wilde erupts with asperity and fortitude.
Vicious swipe.

STARCRAWLER – Classic Guitar Rock Firework And Eye-Catching Madgirl In Brussels

From L.A. please welcome

STARCRAWLER – Botanique, Brussels – 26 January 2018

Already a red-hot sensation in their sunlight hometown of Los Angeles teenage brats STARCRAWLER came to Brussels yesterday to ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL and continue their insatiable thirst for world domination with their retro firework guitar hullabaloo. Gigantic riffage, pounding drum beats, bawl along choruses and an utterly cool ‘it’s only rock and roll but we fucking like it’ attitude. Imagine The Stooges with Chuck Berry on guitar and fronted by a bobby-soxer Courtney Love. Yes all eyes are, continuously, on charismatic frontgirl Arrow de Wilde, who moves and sounds like a creepy madwoman, spine skinny and tall, with a bloody appetite for straitjacket freakism. De Wilde told in an interview how it all started: “I went through a period of time where I was really angry and frustrated. I wanted to start a band so badly because the band I had with my friends – before Starcrawler – had fallen apart. So I started watching live videos of The Runaways and studying Cherie Currie’s moves as well as Iggy Pop and Kiss. I slowly started to create this character, this alter ego maniac.”

Pretty deranged indeed. Something like this….

The steamy 4-headed turbo released their Ryan Adams produced self-titled debut LP only last week. A record filled with all their 60s guitar rock crackers so far, but to my ears and eyes this band really comes alive when on a stage, when producing non-stop electricity for 40 minutes, when generating crazed hooks, smoking licks, crushing hits and vocal punches to blow the roof off the building. I don’t know where and how far they will go and I’m sure they don’t care much. It’s all about right now, right here. It’s all about having the time of their young lives and making it a once in a lifetime experience for a 12-year old kid, invited
at the very end of the set, by the group’s only 18-year old, boiling guitarist Henri Cash, to play a solo. Fantastic moment! Sensational concert! Hail hail rock and roll!!!!

STRARCRAWLER Smells Like Classic Teen Rock Spirit – Here’s ‘LET HER BE ME’…

Awesome vibrations that thrill us in a way we want to scream out loud…

Already a stirring sensation in and out of their hometown Los Angeles young brats STARCRAWLER are totally ready to conquer the world with their flaming retro take
on what rock and roll is all about: big riffs, boiling beats, scream along choruses and
an utterly ‘it’s only rock and roll but we fucking like it’ attitude. Led by charismatic frontgirl Arrow de Wilde, who looks and sounds like a mental madwoman, this 4-headed monster engine reinvent the nastiest moments of legends New York Dolls, The Stooges and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts gloriously. Next week, 19th January, the future stars will release their self-titled debut LP produced by, yes, the great Ryan Adams. And a week later, 26th January I’ll be right in front of them when they play Brussels (one of their only six UK/Europe dates). Here’s one of the steamy reasons that already makes me euphoric right now, right here!…

Crazed Debut Single ‘ANTS’ By Hot New Los Angeles Act… STARCRAWLER

Steamy, hot, swirling, mental & creepy fun. Here’s STARCRAWLER out of sunny L.A. The band was formed one year ago by charismatic frontgirl Arrow de Wilde explaining in an interview how it all started: “I went through a period of time where I was really angry and frustrated. I wanted to start a band so badly because the band I had with my friends – before Starcrawler – had fallen apart. So I started watching live videos of The Runaways and studying Cherie Currie’s moves as well as Iggy Pop and Kiss. I slowly started to create this character, this alter ego maniac.” That sounds pretty deranged. Definitely the way we like it, all day long.

After a series of inflammatory gigs the quartet will release their debut single ANTS next week, on 12th May via Rough Trade. A burning glam cracker sounding like The Stooges fronted by Suzi Quatro on tons of speed while wrestling with her straitjacket. Enter the mad world of Arrow de Wilde and Starcrawler.
