NYC’s maniacal, clamorous and earthshaking-explosive industrial metal-core bulldozer UNIFORM, fronted by Dante’s inferno voice Michael Berdan launched their new album,
their 5th one. They called it AMERICAN STANDARD and they released it via Sacred
Bones
.

LP artwork

The record counts only 4 tracks but the sensational, bone-chilling, breathtaking,
hair-rising, demonic, flabbergasting, brutal and sledgehammering title track lasts
for 21 maddening minutes.

Press info: “American Standard is surely Uniform’s most thematically accomplished
and musically self assured album to date. Sections spiral and explode. Motifs drift off into obscurity before reasserting themselves with new power. Genres collide and burst open, forming something idiosyncratic and new.

There’s a grandeur, due in part to the addition of Interpol bassist Brad Truax alongside
the percussive push and pull of returning drummer Michael Sharp and longtime touring drummer Michael Bloom, marking his Uniform recorded debut here. However, this magnificence is most clearly attributable to the scale and power of guitarist and founder Ben Greenberg’s arrangements, matching ever elegantly to the intense lyrical subject matter.

Spin says: “American Standard is never corny or contrived.
It’s the year’s most intimate, most savage feel-bad music.”

TUTV: This is the titanic soundtrack for a movie called ‘The Decline Of The Divided States
Of America
.’ Well, the movie will be made if Trump gets reelected. He’ll destroy the country, he will crush America‘s democracy, he’ll erase the Stars and Stripes. It is/was/ and always be Trump First.

Wake up America,
get together NOW
and save the USA.

UNIFORM – NYC’s Clamorous Noise Duo Smack Hard With New Chrushing Hammer ‘THIS IS NOT A PRAYER’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

Photo by Turn Up The Volume

NYC’s clamorous and earthshaking-explosive industrial metal-core duo UNIFORM
have fabricated a new LP, their 5th. They called it American Standard and it will
make the world tremble on August 23 via Sacred Bones.

New album artwork

First single THIS IS NOT A PRAYER is a bloodcurdling beast of a sledgehammer.

Michael Berdan (vocalist): “Thematically, it touches on the internal paradox that I’ve experienced while in the throes of an eating disorder. It’s about how the best I’ve ever felt about my physical appearance came when the people I love have told me that I look sick. Rather than taking their concerns to heart, I internalized these sentiments as proof that I was on the right track. I was not.”

Wake up people,
and do pray before
pressing play.

BORIS + UNIFORM = The Beginning Of A Bright New Noise Disease

New striking strokes

16 May 2023

Impressive album artwork

Reknowed industrial hardcore screamos UNIFORM from New York City (formed in 2013, 4LPs so far) and Japanese psychedelic sludge crusaders (formed in 1992, so far 29, yes,
29 longplayers) have teamed up for a collaborative tsunami album named BRIGHT NEW DISEASE. It was written in the darkest days of the pandemic, it is the sound of frustration, but one founded on resilience. Release date: June 16 via Sacred Bones.

Press info: “Boris and Uniform might have seemed like a strange pairing when
they teamed up for a US tour back in 2019. Sure, both bands harness the power
of big, blown-out riffs, but Boris’s rock heroics, lysergic sprawl, and monolithic sludge summon a different energy than Uniform’s mechanized bombardments and frenzied assaults. However, when Boris invited Uniform to team up on a reimagined version of
their classic Akuma No Uta as a part of their encore, there was an obvious chemistry between the artists.”

First single: YOU ARE THE BEGINNING

First single: YOU ARE THE BEGINNING

TUTV: Like Metallica on speed teaming up with Ministry on more speed fronted
by a vocalist who tries to scream his way out of his straight jacket. Get the deranged picture? Boris and Uniform produce a flabbergasting noise that breaks all sonic barriers.

It’s an Apocalyptic psychotic trash-and-slash torpedo you can crush fucking Putin and
his criminal entourage with one strike. And this is only the beginning. Keep your ears peeled for more collaborative earthquakes off the forthcoming album.

When Hell Breaks Loose – High-Voltage NYC Noiseniks UNIFORM Released New Powerhouse LP ‘SHAME’

14 September 2020

Band: UNIFORM
Who: Industrial hardcore trio
from New York City

Album: SHAME – 4th LP
Released: 9/11 – 2020

Info: What if the antihero in your favorite film or book had no chance to repent,
reconcile, or redeem himself? There’s no victim to rescue. There’s no evil to thwart.
There’s no tyranny to turnover. Instead of saving the day against his better judgment,
he just walks a Sisyphean circle of existential malaise doomed to repeat yesterday’s vices without the promise of a better tomorrow. Rather than tell this story on the screen or on the page, Uniform tell it on their fourth full-length album, Shame. The trio – Michael Berdan (vocals), Ben Greenberg (guitar, production), and Mike Sharp (drums) – strain struggle through an industrialized mill of grating guitars, warped electronics, war-torn percussion, and demonically catchy vocalizations.

Micheal Berdan: “Thematically, the album is like a classic hard-boiled paperback novel without a case. At the time we were making the record, I was reading books by Raymond Chandler, James Ellroy, and Dashiell Hammett and strangely found myself identifying with
the internal dialogues of characters like Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe.”

Kerrang wrote: “Industrial music often takes on an inhuman and mechanical air, adding an element of sterile robotics to even the heaviest hitting of songs. Uniform are one of the few exceptions to this rule, the raw emotional edge they bring to the table, alongside fast and rough punk overtones, render their music imperfectly human. Shame is a weighty slab of industrial punk that is effectively the soundtrack to a tortured soul mentally coming apart. Reinventing a core element of themselves, Uniform present a side they have previously kept boiling angrily under a darkened surface.” Full review here. Score: 4/5.

Five new firecrackers to boost your favorite 48 hours…

‘This Feeling Is Disgusting’ by MOURN (Barcelona, Spain)
A roaring razor-blade ripsnorter going fast and furious without looking back.
“It’s a happy song about fear of the future, being anxious about what’s going to happen,
not knowing if you’re going to be able to earn a living or not.”
says the trio. New album
Self Worth arrives on 30 October.

‘Vote That Fucker Out’ by WRECKLESS ERIC and AMY RIGBY (UK/US)
An anger-fueled uppercut, the whole wide world should scream along to. A firm middle-finger knockout. Let’s get together and shout at the top of our lungs until the elections in November. Exit Trump is the world-saving goal, ladies and gents! Let’s act! Let’s sing…

‘Jefferson Davis Highway’ by THE PINKERTON RAID (Durham, NC, US)
Confronting, gripping and soul-stirring song/video honoring the American
anti-racist protesters who came/come out in the streets to condemn the recent
killings and attacks of black people by US law enforcement. A moving humdinger.

‘Shame‘ by UNIFORM (NYC, US)
The NYC hardcore fanatics burn slowly but surely towards a passionate explosion. “It’s a portrait of someone riddled with regret in the process of drinking themselves to death,” says frontman Michael Berdan. It’s the title track of their new album, out 9/11. Details here.

‘Snake Oil’ by NAP EYES (Halifax, US)
Electrical guitar-driven indie belter. “The song is kind of a contradiction or riddle, because whatever this ‘snake oil’ literally represents, the singer is apparently brewing and stewing it
as some kind of sustenance.”
The track comes from the sessions of their excellent album Snapshot Of A Beginner released last March.

See/hear you next week, music junkies…

Highway To Hell – UNIFORM With New Hardcore Drone ‘DISPATCHES FROM THE GUTTER’

New sonic impulses…

23 July 2020

New York’s hardcore trashers UNIFORM announced new album SHAME
a few weeks ago and shared simultaneously first grenade DELCO.

Here’s frenzied outburst number two.

DISPATCHES FROM THE GUTTER is a merciless 2-minute assault.
A schizophrenic highway to hell drone with singer Michael Berdan
screaming his lungs out.

Video’s director Jacqueline Castel about the clip: “The video was approached
as a documented mass sigil informed by the historical and philosophical concept
of self-immolation, performed under the lunar eclipse of Independence Day.”

UNIFORM With Crushing Soundtrack For ‘THE KILLING OF AMERICA’…

Noise that thrills us in a way we want to scream out loud…

shoutout

I’m sure UNIFORM – the Apocalypse Now duo out of New York City, consisting of vocalist Michael Berdan and guitarist/programmer Ben Greenberg – produce the loudest, the most crushing and most critical anti-establishment industrial punk noise on the planet right now. This time ‘louder than war‘ is the one and only appropriate description. How do you know, I hear you ask? I saw and, most of all, I heard these two furious misfits last week
in my hometown Ghent (Belgium). An extraordinary, deafening experience it was. I saw several members in the audience looking for earbuds in their pockets. Not for me, I just
let the knockout tornado pierce my body and mind. I got into a kind of surreal trance.
Hell yeah! Curious? Here’s my favorite track of new album WAKE IN FRIGHT. Smashing headbutt THE KILLING OF AMERICA is about the many mass shootings in America in 2016. The supersonic rage will hit you in the face as a tsunami…

“The Gun Violence Archive defines a Mass Shooting as an incident where 4 or more people are injured or killed with a firearm. There were 385 Mass Shootings in America in 2016 resulting in 450 deaths.”

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….

‘Killing Of America’ by UNIFORM

Uniform2

Holy Fuck! New York City noisemakers UNIFORM just shared the perfect sledgehammer
to be played INSANELY LOUD at Donald Trump‘s inauguration. That utter idiot is ready for THE KILLING OF AMERICA so why not deliver that Russia controlled billionaire the proper soundtrack. Here’s the machine gun killer track that will do the trick perfectly…

The band – vocalist Michael Berdan and guitarist/producer Ben Greenberg – will release their sophomore LP, titled WAKE IN FRIGHT on 20th January. Details here on Bandcamp. “This record is primarily about psychic transition…. the distress that these songs attempt to illustrate comes from a place of stagnation and monotony. This is what happens when old ways of thinking become exhausted and old ways of coping prove ineffective. Something must change or it will break.” Berdan explains while Greenberg adds: “This music is our response to and our reflection of the overwhelming violence, chaos, hate, and destruction that confronts us and everyone else in the world every day of our lives. When we play, I don’t feel powerless anymore.
I hope this record can help others transcend their anger and frustration.”
