Lost In Translation – New Hyperkinetic Single ‘TOKYO MUSIC EXPERIENCE’ By RATS ON RAFTS

New sonic impulses…

Dutch squad RATS ON RAFTS have a new, third, longplayer in the pipeline.

‘Excerpts From Chapter 3: The Mind Runs A Net Of Rabbit Paths’ will hit
the streets on 29th January 2021 via Fire Records.

Fire Records about the new LP: “A psyche-fuelled journey into the id punctuated
with rhythmic kabuki modal mood swings, thunderstorms, digital beeps, traffic noise,
and just plain old beautiful cacophonous reverb-drenched sound when needed. The third chapter refers to the last five years that Rats On Rafts have spent creating their “difficult”
third album. Each song spins a yarn; there are plagues, dreams, wind and fire, ‘mythical’ characters, and the search for the secret government warehouse. It’s a musical melodrama: created in isolation – something we all know so well – a worldview shut out from the world.”

And here comes the lead-single. TOKYO MUSIC EXPERIENCE is an electrical punch-sucker driven by hyperkinetic guitars, manic vocals, and a relentless beat sounding like legendary weirdos Devo are back with some crazed firepower. Expect to be totally puzzled after just one spin.

Maybe you’ll get lost in translation but never in Rats On Rafts‘ music…

PINS – New Queens Of Disco Pop Release 5-Track LIVE EP On 2nd October

22 September 2020

I guess you know by now that Turn Up The Volume can’t stop making noise about Manchester’s amazones PINS, one the coolest bands on this troubled planet. Earlier
this year the new queens of disco pop released one of the best longplayers of the year
with their 24/7 party extravaganza album HOT SLICK. An extensive tour was planned
but that vicious coronavirus screwed up our way of life with indie musicians and live venues unfortunately part of the many severely affected groups.

But PINS do not let their ponytails hang down. A 5-track Live EP will
make us get up, shake our hips, and dance around the kitchen table.

Like this…

(Thx to mancmusic)

Here’s how: “Unfortunately due to government regulations the current situation re COVID-19 the shows this Autumn are unable to proceed as planned. We are working on which dates we are able to reschedule. In the meantime we’d like to share a live EP with you, it is digital format only and you can pay as much or as little as you would like. Your support means everything to us and will help us to continue to make music! We cannot wait to see you again soon.”

‘AngelHeadedHipster: THE SONGS OF MARC BOLAN & T. REX’ – A Star Studded Tribute Album

Marc Bolan (born Mark Feld): 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977

Album: AngelHeaded Hipster: The Songs Of Marc Bolan & T.Rex

Artists: Kesha, Nick Cave, Joan Jett, Devendra Banhart, Lucinda Williams, Børns, Peaches,
Beth Orton, King Khan, Gaby Moreno, John Cameron Mitchell, Emily Haines, Father John Misty, Perry Farrell, Gavin Friday, Elysian Fields, Nena, Marc Almond, Jesse Harris, Sean Ono Lennon, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Victoria Williams, Julian Lennon, David Johanson and Maria McKee

Released: 4 September 2020

A tribute album to the late great glam rock icon Marc Bolan and his legendary
band T. Rex. The tribute was put together by producer Hal Willner who sadly
passed away on 7 April from coronavirus, only 64.

Released: 4 September 2020

Willner about this project: “I became immersed in this artist by listening to everything,
talking to Bolan experts and fans, researching his reviews and interviews. And I found that Bolan was hardly ever talked about as a ‘composer’. It was all about what a great rocker
he was, how innovative he was. I put him in the same pantheon as other composers that
I’ve explored before. So, the concept for the album became to show Bolan as a composer
with our typical cast of artists from different worlds that one rarely sees in the same place.”

Highly Acclaimed Third LP ‘DON’T STAND ME DOWN’ By DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS Turns 35 Today

22 September 2020

Band: Dexys Midnight Runners
Active: 1978–1986, 2003–present
Album: Don’t Stand Me Down – third LP
Released: 22 September 1985 – 35 years ago

AllMusic wrote: “Freed (in his own mind at least) from the tiresome dictates
of the band’s hitmaking past, Rowland conceived an album that drifts past in
a blur of haunting and sometimes haunted melodies, with the vocal lines floating
almost conversationally over them. Play the album once, then think back on it later,
and all you remember is the sheer casual joy of it all, the sense that Dexy’s gathered
in the studio for fun as much as profit, and if nobody liked what they did, which they
didn’t, then so be it.”
Score: 4/5.

White soul frontman Kevin Rowland: “I own records that have
the power to make me cry. Records to be by or with – truly precious
possessions. It is the ambition of the Midnight Runners to make
records of this value.”

Don’t Look Back In Anger – Listen To Brand New Single ‘NOT HERE ANYMORE’ By SKETCH CLUB

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

22 September 2020

Band: SKETCH CLUB

Who: Originally hailing from Dublin, Phillip Island and Brisbane,
Sketch Club formed in Melbourne in 2009.

Pick: NOT HERE ANYMORE

The first single from their forthcoming debut LP ‘Departure Lounge Transmissions‘.
The song “is a reflection on conversations relating to restlessness, discontentment and
soul-destroying occupations. It’s both an escape plan written for a troubled loved one,
and a conspired resolution to break your own personal status quo.”

Officially out 24th September.

Score: The sentiments of Oasis‘ big hit ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger‘, the Foals‘ glimmering guitars, and the melancholic voice of Interpol‘s maestro Paul Banks. This is a bewitching
and life-altering goodbye lullaby. Hopeful, expectant and silvery-toned. A captivating
tune getting better with every spin.
