Waking Up With… New ATTAWALPA Single

Waking up vibes

9 July 2022

Turn Up The Volume featured modern-day crooner ATTAWALPA, a.k.a British Peruvian musical maven Luis Felber several times before. Like with his previous single Too Much,
a Jekyll and Hyde disco-pop vibe with schizo guitars.

As it’s Saturday today I needed a tune that wakes me up slowly but surely.
Attawalpa‘s new loose-fitting piece IGNORE THE POLLUTION is a fitting one.

A reflective and soothing musing about “the desire of switching off from a
loud world, ignoring the constant stream of information one is subjected to.”

Starting dreamy and smooth the song grows towards an
orchestral peak midway before returning to a lazy day in
the sun in the end. Perfect wake-up call.

Relax and enjoy

Ps: Attawalpa was one of the support acts at The Rolling Stones concert
in Hyde Park, London on 25th June. Not many artists can say that.

Singer-Songwriter ATTAWALPA Shares New Prince-ly Soul Vibe ‘TOO MUCH’

New striking scores

2 June 2022

Artist: ATTAWALPA

Who: A South American singer-songwriter,
born Luis Felber and living in London.

New single: TOO MUCH

Felber: “Lyrically ‘Too Much’ is about meeting ‘the one’, but you’re not quite evolved yet. Generally speaking men always take longer at everything emotional. I feel I am part of a disillusioned generation who knows true love is possible if it doesn’t get lost in translation.”

Score: This is a twofold song moving from hip-shaking disco beats with a prince-ly soul
vibe to an electric-charged finale with a schizo guitar impetus. This is a Jekyll and Hyde
pop song with sensuous vocals. Love it! So will you.

Turn Up The Volume’s 5 Best EXTENDED PLAYS Of 2020

COMMON SENSE by VIAGRA BOYS

This EP is the emotive, bluesy and saxy harbinger – with Lick The Bag as one of the best rollicking 2020 tracks – for the Swedish punks’ new album Welfare Jazz, out 8th January.

“I think our songs are mostly written about what’s going on in our lives. Not every band needs
to take themselves so seriously. I’m not very good at political commentary, so I’m not gonna go write a political song. There’s enough of that, in a way. You know, ‘Nazi punks fuck off’”
says sharp-tongued singer/songwriter/tattooist Sebastian Murphy.

These four gracious pearls, with multi-layered orchestrations, shows an imaginative and
impassioned artist with a transcendent vox and the masterly gift to write absorbing songs with a sticking pop melodiousness.

PASTILLE EP by HMS MORRIS (Cardiff, Wales)

A collection of the 5 songs representing 2020 for this Welsh art-pop-folk duo.
“The taste of our particular flu pastille.”

Florence Welch would definitely approve. Yes, that twinkling and sparkling good.

If you want to get away from reality for a while than this Norwegian dream-pop act is the ideal partner. The feel is tranquilizing, tender, idyllic like a sort of zen experience.

When Death Sounds Romantic – ATTAWALPA With His New Single ‘KILLER’

2 December 2020

ATTAWALPA is a London based South-American multi-instrumentalist.
His meticulous production, melodies and honest lyrics evoke the future
as much as the past.

Back in April he made a firm impression with his 4-track debut EP Spells .
“Four gracious pearls, coloured with multi-layered orchestrations, shows an
imaginative and impassioned artist with a transcendent vox and the masterly
gift to write absorbing songs with a highly sticking melodiousness,”
concluded
Turn Up The Volume
.

His new single KILLER continues his way of singing about delicate themes, such
as mortality and death right here, in a near-whispering tone sounding harmless and romantic like that shady crooner Nick Cave does since the day he left the destructive Birthday Party and went solo. From there on he combined alluring melodiousness with somber stories. Remember Murder Ballads? This is exactly what happens on Killer. Attractive sonority, dark thoughts. Black and white. Darkness and light. Intriguing!

Death sounds romantic

Singer/songwriter ATTAWALPA is a South American artist based in London who’s “music is the sum of his influences, a colourful and culturally rich Schmorgers board of sounds, textures, emotions, and grooves from eras across a multitude of genres; sitting comfortably in between rock, alternative and pop spaces. His Peruvian heritage plays a part too.”

He came under Turn Up The Volume‘s radar with his single Holliday, a mesmerizing and bluesy power ballad. Attawalpa assembled this track and three previous singles for his debut EP called SPELLS. A great-crafted, versatile piece of pop excellence.

Opener ‘BORROWED TIME‘ is a laid back, tremendously catchy and soulful tune with Attawalpa‘s near-whispering voice adding a sensual touch. TAKE A BITE is a funky snorter with a Prince like groove, a short Purple Rain guitar solo shot, again, an intoxicating chorus. Song three is the aforementioned slo-mo musing HOLLIDAY. And the exquisite EP ends with a shadowy and seductive reverie called GO TO THE MOON.

These four graceful pearls, coloured with multi-layered orchestrations, shows an imaginative and impassioned artist with a transcendent vox and the masterly gift
to write absorbing songs with a highly sticking melodiousness.
